SwAM Ocean – reducing poverty with blue economy
We aim to reduce poverty and create prosperity through the development of a sustainable and climate-adapted blue economy. We promote opportunities, choices, security, voice, and access to resources for people living in poverty.
What we do
- Develop and make marine data and environmental assessments accessible for national marine management authorities
Provide methods to strengthen cross-sectoral and inclusive marine spatial planning for key personnel in national marine planning processes - Provide strategic structures and tools to exercise effective and adaptive management of marine ecosystems with marine managers and institutions
- Train key actors in marine management through ’train-the-trainer’-programs to build institutional capacity
- Provide expertise in sustainable ocean governance and management to regional sea conventions and international partners
Who we are
SwAM is the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, a Swedish government agency. We work on behalf of the government and parliament. We protect, restore and ensure sustainable use of lakes, rivers, stream and the sea.
