Regional Coordination
Countries that share fishing areas are required to coordinate their individual national programs/annual workplans with each other in a kind of regional effort. With the introduction of the new data collection legislation EU-MAP, regional cooperation is strengthened even more.
Sweden is currently involved in two regional coordination groups, one for the Baltic Sea and other for the North Sea. In addition, a number of bilateral agreements exist between Sweden and its water-neighboring countries.
