KOMPIS – municipal planning in national collaboration
Swedish coastal municipalities were able to receive grants from 2016 to 2018 to support and strengthen the preparation and implementation of comprehensive planning of marine areas. The municipalities applied for the grant from the County Administrative Boards. The project was completed in 2018. By then, 26 million kronor was granted to various KOMPIS projects in the country.
The goal of the KOMPIS projects
- Strengthen the municipality’s capacity to follow and submit comments on proposals for government planning.
- Provide the municipality with support for increased planning in its marine area and to support intermunicipal cooperation.
The role of the County Administrative Board
Each County Administrative Board was responsible for the call and review of applications from the municipalities within its county. Find the right County Administrative Board at www.lansstyrelsen.se
The municipalities’ comprehensive planning of marine areas have reached different stages and have different arrangements. The County Administrative Boards have therefore granted projects based on regional conditions and needs.
Final report
The County Administrative Boards in Västra Götaland, Kalmar and Västernorrland have conducted a final report that summarises and evaluates the project form KOMPIS during its active years 2016-2018 and demonstrates further development needs.
