An ecosystem service approach for analyzing marine human activities in Sweden (report 2012:8)

A synthesis for the Economic and Social Analysis of the Initial Assessment of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive

This report deals with socio-economic analysis and addresses how different activities in Swedish marine waters are dependent on ecosystem services while at the same time affecting the ability of the ecosystems to provide the same services.

In addition, the report gives an assessment of the socioeconomic cost that can be expected as a result of a continued degradation of the marine environment. The report is a summary of four previous reports (dealing with the Swedish maritime sector, the Swedish marine tourism and recreation sector, oil spills in Swedish marine waters and marine litter) commissioned by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to underpin the Swedish initial assessment.
